Enduro World Cup cancelled: EWS co-founder Enrico Guala reacts
On August 19th, Warner Bros. Discovery and the UCI announced the end of the Enduro World Cup for 2027. Three days later, En Roue Libre met Enrico Guala in Les Gets.
Not a neutral voice
Enrico Guala co-founded the Enduro World Series with Chris Ball and Fred Glo. He runs Superenduro in Italy and lives in Finale Ligure — the place Warner’s own press release calls the spiritual home of enduro. He built this sport alongside the very people who just ended it, and he says so himself: he is not neutral.
Where it gets interesting
And yet he refuses to blame Warner or the UCI. He points elsewhere: why enduro was never broadcastable, how the perfect e-bike turned out to be an enduro bike and what that did to the market, why riders feel lost right now, and how he sees the sport being rebuilt on four pillars.
